A Glimpse Behind The Real Life Tony Stark
It always seemed to impress the people that see it rolling on the road. Mainly due to it’s futuristic design, or just the pleasant feeling of seeing it rolling down the street in that pure electric silence, which is satisfying to say the least. The name Tesla might ring a bell. Known for their successful products such as the Model S, 3, X, and Y. Yes, it literally spells sexy. This electric car company has changed the way people perceive electric cars, forever.
And you may at some point wonder, “who is the man behind it all?” What happens behind the curtains? Well, the man behind that is Elon Musk. He is the brain operator and CEO of this massively successful electric car company. Also known as the real-life Tony Stark, with a net-worth of $20.3 Billion which makes him the 54th richest person in the world in 2018. But what many people don’t know is that Elon came from a much more ‘different’ background than other CEOs that have turned successful in the recent years, personally speaking.
It all started in Pretoria, South Africa, 1971. Musk was born into a family of four. His father was an engineer, his mother was a model and dietitian, Elon also had a little brother named Kimbal. From an early age, Elon realized that he is different from the rest. When his friends would play outside, Elon would rather be in the library reading books, mainly science fiction books and that interest has been present ever since. Because of that, he is labeled as a geek by his friends, he’d always get bullied or beaten up at school by his friends. But not a single one of them stopped him from finding his passion.
At the age of 12, he got his first computer and loved it. Later on, he decided to teach himself the art of coding and eventually, he built a game called “Blastar” that sold to PC Magazine for $500. To be honest, that was a lot of money back then, and I do think so too. At the age of 18, Elon enrolled at the University of Penn State, graduating with a double major in economics and physics. “It was there where I found my interest in renewable energy and space exploration”, says Elon.
After graduating, he founded PayPal, the online money transfer company which we all are familiar by now. He built it from the ground up and then was then bought by the online market giant, eBay for $1.5 Billion. His cut was $165 million which he decided to use to start his own rocket company, SpaceX, which became the first privately funded rocket company that made a rocket to reach the earth’s orbit.
Not stopping there, Elon later co-founded an electric car company, Tesla Motors, which he now leads with the title of CEO. We all know that at the time, electric cars were known to be slow, underpowered, and quite frankly unpopular. But he managed to work tirelessly every day and night. And within ten years, Tesla Motors is the most influential brand and revolutionary electric car company, producing fast and safe vehicles that also feel luxurious, given some build quality issues that Tesla is quite known for.
That’s right, he didn’t only build his own rocket company, but built one of the worlds leading electric car company. Changing the entire automotive industry during a time when everyone said it wouldn’t work. All of this was because Elon believed in advancing the humanity for the better of the world.
